This Spanish company has come up with a solution to the random parking of electric scooters
Electric scooters provide a very comfortable way of life for people in cities. Not only do they reduce polluting emissions from road traffic, they also eliminate the parking problems associated with cars and motorcycles.Another way to use these e-scooters is to pay by the minute or trip, and companies that specialize in renting out e-scooters and e-bikes have launched their rental business in Spain years ago. But considering the need to maintain vehicles and also to use large trucks for recycling, it is clear that this method increases traffic flow and pollution emissions.
To address this paradox and translate it into a sustainable goal, e-scooter-sharing company VoiTechonology, in partnership with Alifero Company (www.fscooter.com), has developed a cargo bike for on-site repair of e-scooters.
After several tests in various European countries, the company decided to find a pilot in Seville to avoid using large trucks for routine maintenance due to the conditions and the flow of people in various places.
On the one hand, cargo bicycles need to regularly check different electric scooters, and they need to meet its functions such as failure and cleaning, and even need to replace the battery in a short time to ensure that they can run safely; They can file a report with the company so the cargo bikes can get to the scene as quickly as possible.
In the past, 125 trips on electric scooters required a repair in the warehouse. Now thanks to the advent of cargo bikes, inspections are basically not required before 220 trips, and traffic efficiency has been greatly improved.
Since the time for a single repair is reduced, multiple repairs can be carried out more efficiently, and about 80%-90% of the repair work can be completed within eight hours, which was only 70% before.
